Currently in development, A Rover’s Journey is a 3D, narrative, exploration game, set in the final frontier: space! Play as Roo-ver, Australia’s upcoming lunar rover, and help your astronaut companion discover all that the moon has to offer. Traverse difficult terrain, avoid crashing meteors, and uncover technology left from previous expeditions. Find out if the mysterious lunar landscape can sustain human life!
This game is being developed by MASA Studios, in partnership with MAXART.
I’m lead artist, and I’ve dedicated my time to developing the main playable character, Roo-ver; including modelling, rigging, texturing and animating, along with in-engine implementation in Unity.

Roo-ver’s in-engine laser arm setup utilises a multi-aim, and two bone IK constraints, which targets the player’s cursor. Damped transforms are applied to create a smoothing effect as the laser arm pivots.
His rocker-bogie suspension functions similarly, with multi-aim constraints targeting anchors attached to the wheel centres. These anchors are parented to and move with Unity’s built-in wheel colliders, creating an effective visual simulation of working supsension.
Roo-ver has a ‘boost metre’, which is fueled by ‘power cells’. I modelled, textured, and implemented these in-engine; an emissive map makes them glow against the environment!
